What’s Special about January 8?

Mark your Calendars and Start getting over
Heartbreak Now!

Although January typically is the month with the least number of weddings, it is the month you are most likely to find a match! According to dating experts, the last week of December and the first week of January have a high percentage of separations and divorce. Relationships come to a screeching halt as people begin their annual assessment of their lives. January 8 is the day when people decide to get on with their lives, begin to search for a new relationship, or look for a distraction from a broken heart.

Dating websites reveal that while last January 8 was the day they experienced their highest traffic, January 9 was the date cheaters come out to play. Statistics show that December 26 to February 14 is “#searchingforlove” or the peak online dating season. Unfortunately, this so-called love season is over and 2018 is months away. However, this does not mean you can’t find someone special; someone looking for a serious relationship and ready to commit to be loyal to one person.

Steps to Definitively Getting Over a Broken Heart

STEP #1 – Don’t skip over the mourning process. Mourning is the external display of your innermost feelings. It requires social interaction and is considered the true start of healing. Allow yourself time to come to terms with the break-up and accept that you are single.
Being single offers immense opportunities especially freedom from shared couple’s decisions and actions. However, with this freedom come responsibilities so avoid doing anything drastic like casual sex or getting a permanent tattoo.

STEP #2 – Take a personal journey toward recovery. You can do this with friends, family, or on your own and learn to enjoy being single. You don’t have to take a trip to an exotic location or go on drinking binges. Take the high road and really work on building your self-esteem and sense of self-worth.

STEP #3 – Test the dating game. However before you get on this particular wagon, establish your ground rules. Are you planning to be a player? Are you still grieving and crying over the past relationship? Are you hoping to get back together and want to use online dating to stir jealousy feeling in your ex? It is important to be honest with your intentions especially with yourself so your expectations don’t get blown up to bits once again.

STEP #4 – Go meet new people! It does not have to be confined to dating sites. You can start a conversation with nice-looking strangers in a public place like a supermarket, church, school, or park. Just make sure to take all the precautions to get to know the person better– and avoid going to bars or private places like apartment or house. You should stick to restaurants and other public areas first.

STEP #5 – Final Step.  If 2018 comes around and you’re still enjoying life as a single adult, go ahead and join the rest of the single adults looking to expand their social network on January 8! It’s bound to be fun especially if you are with other single friends.
